Job Description
Are you a compassionate and reliable individual looking to make a genuine difference in someone’s life? KinCare is seeking dedicated Elderly Companions to provide non-medical support and companionship to our clients in Broome. This role is perfect for someone with a big heart who enjoys spending time with seniors, engaging in meaningful activities, and providing practical assistance around the home. No medical training is required – your warmth, empathy, and willingness to help are your most important qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engaging companionship and social interaction, including conversations, reading, games, and hobbies.
- Assist clients with daily activities such as light meal preparation and tidying.
- Accompany clients on outings, appointments, or social events.
- Run errands, including grocery shopping and prescription pick-ups.
- Offer gentle encouragement and support for personal well-being.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised living environment for the client.
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the KinCare team regarding client needs and observations.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong empathy, patience, and compassion for seniors
- Reliability and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- A valid Australian driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving, support, or companion role (even informal)
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Knowledge of local community resources in Broome
- Relevant Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community)
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local community
