Job Description

Are you a compassionate and reliable individual looking to make a genuine difference in someone’s life? KinCare is seeking dedicated Elderly Companions to provide non-medical support and companionship to our clients in Broome. This role is perfect for someone with a big heart who enjoys spending time with seniors, engaging in meaningful activities, and providing practical assistance around the home. No medical training is required – your warmth, empathy, and willingness to help are your most important qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging companionship and social interaction, including conversations, reading, games, and hobbies.
  • Assist clients with daily activities such as light meal preparation and tidying.
  • Accompany clients on outings, appointments, or social events.
  • Run errands, including grocery shopping and prescription pick-ups.
  • Offer gentle encouragement and support for personal well-being.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised living environment for the client.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the KinCare team regarding client needs and observations.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong empathy, patience, and compassion for seniors
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • A valid Australian driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a caregiving, support, or companion role (even informal)
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Knowledge of local community resources in Broome
  • Relevant Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community)
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local community
