Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Support professional to join our team, focusing on preschool settings within the Bendigo region. This vital role involves providing comprehensive support to early childhood educators, children, and families to ensure inclusive, high-quality learning experiences for all. You will work closely with preschool staff to implement tailored support plans, facilitate access to specialist services, and promote best practices in early childhood development. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to state government initiatives aimed at enhancing educational outcomes from an early age.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to early childhood educators in implementing inclusive practices and tailored learning programs for children with diverse needs.
- Collaborate with families, educators, and external agencies to develop, monitor, and review individual support plans for children in preschool settings.
- Assist in the identification of children who may benefit from additional support services and facilitate appropriate referrals.
- Deliver professional learning and guidance to preschool staff on a range of topics including child development, behaviour management, and inclusive education strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support interventions, ensuring alignment with departmental guidelines and best practice standards.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of support provided and progress made by children.
- Advocate for the needs of children and families within the early childhood education system.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of early childhood support services across the region.
Required Skills
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with young children (0-5 years) and their families, particularly those with diverse learning and developmental needs.
- Sound understanding of early childhood development, inclusive education principles, and relevant legislative frameworks.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and consultation skills.
- Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Current Victorian Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for regional travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Experience working within the Victorian early childhood education or government sector.
- Knowledge of local community resources and support networks in the Bendigo region.
- Experience in delivering professional development or training to educators.
