Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Data Privacy Lead to join our dynamic team. This critical role will be instrumental in evolving our data privacy program, ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations, and fostering a culture of privacy-by-design across our product development lifecycle. You will work closely with legal, engineering, product, and security teams to implement best practices and drive strategic privacy initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of data privacy in a fast-paced, innovative tech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Atlassian's data privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with global regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and APP.
- Conduct regular privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for new products, features, and initiatives.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to product, engineering, and business teams on privacy-by-design principles and data protection best practices.
- Oversee and manage data subject access requests (DSARs) and other privacy-related inquiries.
- Monitor changes in privacy laws and regulations, ensuring ongoing compliance and adapting internal processes as required.
- Develop and deliver privacy training and awareness programs for employees across the organization.
- Collaborate with the security and legal teams on data breach response planning and execution.
- Act as a central point of contact for privacy-related matters, working with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Lead initiatives to enhance Atlassian's privacy posture and build robust privacy controls into our systems and processes.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in data privacy, compliance, or a related field within the technology industry.
- In-depth knowledge of global data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, APP).
- Proven experience developing and implementing privacy programs and policies.
- Strong understanding of data security principles and privacy-enhancing technologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex privacy concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant privacy certification (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT).
- Experience with SaaS products and cloud computing environments.
- Familiarity with privacy frameworks such as NIST Privacy Framework or ISO 27701.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
