Job Description
Are you a highly motivated and physically fit individual looking for a challenging and rewarding role? Sunshine Coast Council is seeking a dedicated Council Depot Hand to join our team in Maroochydore. This is a crucial, hands-on role that requires significant physical stamina and a strong work ethic. You will be an integral part of our operations, supporting various council services and contributing directly to the upkeep of our beautiful region. Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of manual labour tasks, including heavy lifting, digging, carrying materials, and general site cleanup.
- Assist tradespersons (e.g., plumbers, electricians, landscapers) with various projects and maintenance activities.
- Operate basic plant and equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., mowers, whipper snippers, small hand tools).
- Maintain the cleanliness, organisation, and security of the depot and associated work areas.
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring proper securing of materials and equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated high level of physical fitness and stamina for manual labour.
- Ability to work effectively in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand instructions and complete forms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safe work practices and WHS regulations.
- Valid C-Class Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar physical labour role or depot environment.
- Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Forklift operator's license (LF Class).
- Basic First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Experience operating small plant and equipment.
