Job Description
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Correctional Admin Officer to join our team in Bendigo. This vital role provides essential administrative support within a correctional services environment, contributing to the efficient operation of our facilities and the safety of our community. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks, ensuring accurate record-keeping, effective communication, and adherence to strict departmental policies and procedures. This is an on-site position requiring a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate departmental records, databases, and filing systems.
- Prepare, process, and distribute various administrative documents, reports, and correspondence.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for staff and management.
- Handle incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and postal mail.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to correctional staff and management.
- Ensure strict compliance with all departmental policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Assist with the procurement of office supplies, equipment, and services.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of sensitive information and records.
- Support audit preparations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of proven administrative experience, ideally within a government, legal, or justice sector.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all administrative tasks.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Capacity to pass a comprehensive criminal history and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Experience with government-specific record-keeping systems or database management.
- A foundational understanding of correctional services operations and procedures.
