Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cemetery Labourer to join our team in Maitland. This is a vital role focused on maintaining our beautiful cemetery grounds, ensuring they remain peaceful and well-kept for visitors and for those laid to rest. You will perform a variety of outdoor tasks, from grave digging and preparation to landscaping and general maintenance. We value respect, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. No prior experience in cemetery work is required; we provide comprehensive training for the right individual who demonstrates a respectful attitude and a willingness to learn. This role offers stable employment and the opportunity to contribute to a deeply meaningful service within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform grave digging and preparation duties, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Operate various hand tools and light machinery (e.g., mowers, trimmers, diggers) for grounds maintenance.
  • Maintain the aesthetic appearance of cemetery grounds, including mowing, weeding, planting, and irrigation.
  • Assist with the placement of headstones, memorials, and other grave markers.
  • Ensure all work is conducted with the utmost respect and dignity for the deceased and their families.
  • Participate in general landscaping and beautification projects across the cemetery.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Assist visitors with directions and general inquiries in a polite and helpful manner.
