Job Description

Choices Flooring is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Carpet Installer Assistant to join our growing team in Gladstone, QLD. This is an entry-level, full-time position perfect for individuals eager to learn a trade and build a career in the flooring industry. You will work indoors, assisting our experienced installers with various tasks related to carpet and other flooring installations, ensuring high-quality finishes and customer satisfaction. As a Carpet Installer Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and execution of flooring projects. You will gain hands-on experience and receive comprehensive on-the-job training from seasoned professionals, learning all aspects of carpet installation from site preparation to final touches. This role requires a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist lead installers in preparing job sites, including moving furniture and removing old flooring materials.
• Help measure, cut, and lay carpet, ensuring precise placement and fit under direct supervision.
• Handle and transport tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area during and after installations.
• Assist with post-installation cleanup, ensuring job sites are left tidy and ready for the customer.
• Learn and strictly adhere to all company installation standards, quality guidelines, and safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress and challenges.
• Support the installation team with various ad-hoc tasks as required.

Required Skills

• Ability to regularly lift and carry heavy materials (up to 25kg) and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality are essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Eagerness and willingness to learn new skills and follow instructions.
• Basic verbal communication skills to interact with team members.
• A valid Australian driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manual labor, construction, or trades assistant role.
• Basic knowledge or familiarity with common hand tools and power tools.
• Current First Aid certification.
• Construction Induction Card (White Card) for working on construction sites in Australia.
