Job Description

Join SMEC as a Cadet Surveyor and embark on an exciting career path with direct mentorship from seasoned professionals. You will gain hands-on experience in various surveying techniques, contributing to critical infrastructure projects across the Mackay region. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Surveyors with data collection, measurement, and site layout tasks.
  • Learn to operate and maintain various surveying instruments, including total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
  • Participate in field surveys for civil engineering, construction, and land development projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of survey reports, plans, and technical documentation.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards on site.
  • Develop a strong understanding of surveying principles and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong mathematical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in an outdoor, field-based environment.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Basic understanding of spatial data and mapping concepts.
