Job Description

GHD is offering an exceptional opportunity for a Cadet Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Toowoomba. This full-time position provides hands-on professional field mentorship, allowing you to gain invaluable experience working alongside highly skilled and experienced surveyors on diverse projects. You’ll be involved in all aspects of surveying, from initial data collection to processing and analysis, contributing to critical infrastructure, property, and environmental projects. This role is perfect for an enthusiastic individual with a strong aptitude for mathematics and an eagerness to embrace new technologies and challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior surveyors with field data collection using GPS, Total Stations, and other advanced surveying equipment.
- Participate in the setup, operation, and maintenance of surveying instruments.
- Perform calculations and basic data processing under supervision.
- Maintain accurate field notes and documentation.
- Conduct site reconnaissance and assist with project planning.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Learn and apply relevant surveying principles, legislation, and standards.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other project stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Spatial Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) is a plus.
- Previous experience with surveying equipment (even academic) is advantageous.
