Job Description
Are you passionate about working with animals and the land? Longford Estate is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Stockman / Stockwoman Trainees to join our vibrant agricultural team. This is an unparalleled opportunity for individuals eager to learn the foundational skills of livestock management within a prestigious and supportive environment. No prior experience is required – we are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in rural life. You will receive hands-on training across all aspects of our livestock operations, primarily focusing on sheep and cattle, under the guidance of experienced stockmen.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily feeding and watering of livestock (cattle and sheep).
- Learn and participate in routine animal health checks and basic veterinary care.
- Support in moving, herding, and handling livestock safely and humanely.
- Assist with lambing and calving duties during seasonal periods.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of pens, sheds, and farm facilities.
- Operate and maintain basic farm machinery and equipment under supervision.
- Learn about pasture management and rotational grazing techniques.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and welfare policies and procedures.
