Job Description

This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our dynamic team in Launceston as a Cadet Draftsperson. You will embark on a structured learning journey, gaining hands-on experience in drafting and design, with a particular focus on mastering Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and methodologies. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior draftspersons and engineers in preparing technical drawings, plans, and designs across various disciplines.
  • Learn and apply Revit and BIM principles to create accurate and compliant models and documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with project teams, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and specifications.
  • Maintain and update drawing registers, project documentation, and electronic filing systems.
  • Participate actively in all provided training sessions, workshops, and continuous professional development initiatives.
  • Adhere strictly to company drafting standards, quality assurance procedures, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Conduct basic research to support design tasks and material selections.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in drafting, design, architecture, or engineering principles.
  • Eagerness to learn new software, technical skills, and industry best practices.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of Year 12 (High School Certificate) or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawing concepts or geometric principles.
  • Prior exposure to any CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp) is an advantage but not essential.
  • Aptitude for spatial reasoning and visual interpretation.
  • Relevant pre-vocational studies or TAFE courses in drafting, design, or engineering support.
