Job Description
GHD is seeking a dedicated and experienced BASIX Consultant to join our dynamic Urban Planning team in Greenway, ACT. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with the Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) requirements for residential developments across New South Wales, primarily supporting our clients in the ACT and surrounding regions who operate within the NSW planning framework. You will be responsible for preparing BASIX certificates, providing expert advice on sustainable design solutions, and contributing to a wide range of planning projects. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and lodge BASIX certificates for residential development applications in accordance with NSW legislative requirements.
- Provide expert advice on BASIX compliance, sustainable building design, and energy/water efficiency measures to clients and project teams.
- Conduct detailed assessments of architectural plans, specifications, and other relevant documentation to determine BASIX requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, planners, developers, and local councils to integrate sustainable design principles into projects.
- Stay abreast of changes in BASIX legislation, sustainable building technologies, and relevant planning policies.
- Assist in the preparation of planning proposals, environmental impact statements, and other planning reports.
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs.
- Contribute to business development activities and client relationship management.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and lodging BASIX certificates.
- Thorough understanding of BASIX assessment methodology and NSW planning legislation (e.g., EP&A Act).
- Proficiency with BASIX online tool and other relevant software (e.g., NatHERS tools).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, building sustainability, architecture, urban planning, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accreditation as a BASIX Assessor.
- Experience with other sustainability rating tools (e.g., Green Star, NABERS).
- Previous consulting experience within the property or planning industry.
- Project management skills.
