Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as an Airline Catering Assistant – Airport Area, Entry Level, at our Mount Gambier facility. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the dynamic aviation industry, with no prior experience required. You will be responsible for supporting the catering operations, ensuring all meals and supplies are prepared, packed, and loaded efficiently and to the highest standards of hygiene and quality. This is an on-site position based within the airport area, offering a unique working environment and the chance to be part of a critical operation that keeps flights running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and packing of airline meals, snacks, and beverages according to specific flight menus and strict hygiene standards.
- Load and unload catering carts, ensuring items are correctly stocked and secured for transport to aircraft.
- Collect used catering equipment from arriving aircraft and transport it back to the facility for cleaning.
- Operate and clean industrial kitchen equipment, dishwashers, and food service vehicles.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the catering facility, including production areas, storage rooms, and vehicle loading docks.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet tight deadlines and maintain service schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as airline schedules dictate.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transport to and from the airport area (Mount Gambier Airport).
- Successful completion of a background check and ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
- Basic understanding of English for communication and safety instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food service, hospitality, or warehouse environment is a plus, but not essential.
- Forklift license or experience operating similar equipment.
- First Aid certification.
