Job Description

We are excited to offer an invaluable student placement opportunity for individuals currently undertaking their Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care). This placement provides hands-on practical experience within a supportive and professional aged care environment. You will work alongside experienced healthcare professionals, gaining essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the aged care sector. This is a chance to apply your theoretical learning in a real-world setting, contribute to resident well-being, and fulfill your course requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, under supervision.
  • Observe and learn from experienced care staff, adhering to all care plans and facility policies.
  • Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to enhance their quality of life.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, promoting their comfort and dignity.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and the care team.
  • Document observations and assist with record-keeping as required.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and professional conduct standards.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for caring for the elderly.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliability and a proactive attitude.
  • Completion of all mandatory police checks and vaccinations as per industry requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior volunteer experience in a healthcare or aged care setting.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds and needs.
