Job Description

Opal HealthCare is offering a unique opportunity to kickstart your career in aged care as a Trainee Aged Care Assistant in our Port Adelaide facility. No prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive training and support to help you develop the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in this rewarding field. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning on the job while contributing to the wellbeing of our residents. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all training programs and mentorship opportunities.
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care (showering, dressing, grooming) and mobility.
- Support residents with meal times, ensuring a pleasant and safe dining experience.
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' health or behavior to senior staff.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, families, and team members.
- Contribute to care planning under supervision, learning to tailor support to individual needs.

- Ability to pass a police check and provide immunisation records as per industry requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport.
- Previous experience in a customer service or care-related role (volunteer or paid) is a bonus, but not essential.
- Enrolment or interest in Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community Care).
