Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated 3D Print Technician specializing in Additive Manufacturing to join our dynamic team on the Gold Coast. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our state-of-the-art additive manufacturing systems. You will work with various materials and technologies to produce high-quality components for our advanced rocket systems and related aerospace applications. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of additive manufacturing processes, and a commitment to innovation and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor industrial-grade 3D printers (e.g., SLM, FDM, SLA, Binder Jetting) for metal and polymer components.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of 3D printing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Prepare print jobs, including file conversion, slicing, and support structure generation using relevant software.
  • Conduct post-processing activities such as support removal, surface finishing, and quality inspection of printed parts.
  • Manage material handling, inventory, and safe disposal procedures accordings to industry standards.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and materials scientists to optimize print parameters and material selection.
  • Maintain detailed records of print jobs, material usage, and equipment maintenance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of additive manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and quality assurance protocols.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a 3D Print Technician or similar role in additive manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining industrial 3D printing systems (metal and/or polymer).
  • Strong understanding of various additive manufacturing technologies (e.g., SLM, FDM, SLA).
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for print preparation (e.g., Magics, Netfabb, Cura).
  • Ability to perform detailed quality inspections using precision measuring tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or vocational training in Additive Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with aerospace-grade materials and quality requirements.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of post-processing techniques like heat treatment, machining, or surface coating.
  • Experience with multiple 3D printer platforms and software ecosystems.
