Job Description

Join the Australian Broadcasting Corporation as an Assistant Broadcast Engineer in Alice Springs, NT. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to start or grow their career in broadcast engineering. You will be an integral part of our technical team, responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and installation of cutting-edge television broadcast equipment. This role offers hands-on experience across a wide range of broadcast technologies, ensuring the seamless delivery of ABC content to our audiences in the Northern Territory and beyond. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of television broadcast equipment, including cameras, mixers, transmitters, and studio systems.
  • Monitor broadcast signals and transmission paths to ensure optimal quality and continuity of service.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose technical faults in broadcast systems and equipment, implementing timely solutions.
  • Provide technical support during live broadcasts, recordings, and other productions.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance activities, and system configurations.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with broadcast technology advancements.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of electronics and electrical principles.
  • Understanding of audio-visual signal flow and broadcast concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience (paid or unpaid) in a technical support, IT, or media production role.
  • Familiarity with IP-based broadcast workflows.
  • Current Australian Driver's License.
