Job Description
We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Operations Data Coordinator to join our team in Cairns, focusing on supporting our civil and mining projects. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the collection, analysis, and reporting of operational data to drive efficiency, improve decision-making, and ensure project success. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and operational teams to maintain data integrity and provide actionable insights. This position is ideal for someone passionate about data and its application in heavy industry environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, compile, and manage large datasets related to civil and mining operations, including production, equipment performance, safety, and cost data.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all operational data.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to present key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational trends.
- Assist in the identification of data quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with various project teams to understand data requirements and deliver tailored analytical support.
- Support the implementation and optimization of data management systems and tools.
- Provide training and support to operational staff on data entry and reporting best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on data collection and analysis processes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting, preferably within an operational or project-based environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros).
- Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL, Access).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of data governance principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView.
- Knowledge of civil engineering or mining operations and terminology.
- Familiarity with project management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Certification in data analysis or data management.
