Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Asset Management Lead to join our Public Sector advisory team, based in Wagga Wagga. This critical role will involve working directly with local government clients to enhance their asset management capabilities. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing asset management strategies and systems, ensuring the efficient and effective lifecycle management of public assets. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong stakeholder engagement skills to drive positive outcomes for regional communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive asset management plans and strategies for local government clients.
  • Conduct asset condition assessments, performance monitoring, and risk analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee the management of asset registers, ensuring data accuracy and integrity across various asset classes (e.g., roads, water, wastewater, buildings, parks).
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on asset lifecycle planning, including acquisition, operation, maintenance, renewal, and disposal strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant national and state asset management standards, legislation, and best practices (e.g., ISO 55000).
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to build asset management capability within client organisations.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for asset management, reporting on progress and recommending improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, finance, and operational teams within local councils to integrate asset management into broader organisational objectives.
  • Prepare detailed reports, business cases, and presentations for council management and stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in asset management, with a significant portion in local government or the public sector.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary asset management principles, frameworks (e.g., ISO 55000), and practices.
  • Proven experience with asset management information systems (AMIS) and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead projects, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes within challenging environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • Professional certification in Asset Management (e.g., Institute of Asset Management Certificate/Diploma).
  • Experience working with Australian local government asset management frameworks and regulations.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
