Job Description
Are you eager to kick-start your career in the trades and gain valuable hands-on experience? Boral is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Trades Assistant for part-time day work at our Gosford site. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience to learn directly from skilled professionals across various trades, including carpentry, mechanics, and general site maintenance. You’ll contribute to our daily operations, support our teams, and develop a foundational understanding of the construction materials industry. We are looking for someone reliable, hardworking, and keen to learn new skills in a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople with various tasks across different departments (e.g., maintenance, production, logistics).
- Prepare work areas, materials, and tools for daily operations.
- Perform general site cleanup and maintenance to ensure a safe and organized workspace.
- Handle and move materials and equipment as directed.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies diligently.
- Learn and apply new skills and techniques under supervision.
- Support the team in troubleshooting minor issues and performing routine checks.
- Maintain a positive and proactive attitude towards learning and teamwork.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new trade skills.
- Reliability and punctuality for all scheduled shifts.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety (or willingness to learn immediately).
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and lift moderately heavy objects.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction Induction White Card (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting).
- Basic experience with hand tools and power tools.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transport.
- Previous experience in a manual labor or industrial environment (even if informal).
