Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and driven Community Development Intern with a focus on social impact to join our team in Mackay. This is an incredible opportunity for an aspiring professional to gain hands-on experience in community development, project coordination, and social impact measurement within a reputable humanitarian organisation. You will contribute to meaningful projects designed to empower local communities, support vulnerable populations, and drive positive social change in the Mackay region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of local community development programs and initiatives.
  • Support the engagement with community members, local organisations, and stakeholders to understand needs and gather feedback.
  • Contribute to the development of communication materials, reports, and presentations for various projects.
  • Help organise community events, workshops, and outreach activities.
  • Conduct research to identify best practices in social impact and community development.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting on program outcomes and impact.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for program improvement and innovation.
  • Provide administrative support to the community development team as required.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for social justice, humanitarian work, and community development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic research and analytical skills.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Social Work, Community Development, Public Health, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer or internship experience in a community-focused role.
  • Understanding of the social and cultural landscape of the Mackay region.
