Job Description

Join GHD as a Surveying Field Assistant and embark on an exciting career path where travel and comprehensive training are part of your journey. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the fundamentals of surveying, work outdoors, and contribute to critical infrastructure and development projects across Victoria. No prior experience is required as full training will be provided, equipping you with the skills needed to succeed in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Surveyors with setting up and operating surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and levels.
  • Lay out and mark points on construction sites, property boundaries, and other project areas.
  • Record field measurements, observations, and other data accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain and clean surveying equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies on job sites.
  • Transport equipment and materials to and from various project locations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other professionals on site.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support surveying operations.

Required Skills

  • Strong willingness to learn new skills and adapt to various work environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in an outdoor labour role, construction, or related field (beneficial but not essential).
  • Basic understanding of measurements and calculations.
