Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Waste Water Specialist to join our environmental team in Geraldton, WA. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation and compliance of our wastewater treatment facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimising wastewater processes, adhering to environmental regulations, and contributing to our commitment to sustainable water management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants and associated equipment.
- Monitor treatment processes, collect samples, and perform laboratory tests to ensure effluent quality meets regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of operational data, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
- Develop and implement process optimisation strategies to improve plant efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and national environmental regulations and safety protocols.
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and documentation.
- Participate in emergency response activities related to wastewater incidents.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams on upgrades, new projects, and process improvements.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior operators as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in wastewater treatment plant operations or environmental management.
- Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, technologies, and relevant environmental regulations (e.g., EPA guidelines).
- Proficiency in water quality sampling and laboratory testing procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex operational issues and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent record-keeping and data analysis skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safety and environmental best practices.
- Current Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Water Resources Management, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in wastewater treatment or water operations.
- Experience with SCADA systems and process control software.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
