Job Description

Cleanaway in Glenorchy, Tasmania, is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Recycling Plant Hand. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to help you master the skills needed for this vital role. This is a full-time, on-site position where you will be instrumental in the sorting and processing of recyclable materials, ensuring they are diverted from landfill and given a new life. Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and separate various recyclable materials (e.g., plastics, paper, glass, metals) on a conveyor belt or within designated areas.
  • Operate and monitor basic plant machinery and equipment under supervision, following all safety protocols (full training provided).
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the plant floor, sorting stations, and general work areas.
  • Adhere strictly to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures at all times.
  • Assist with general labour tasks as required, including the loading, unloading, and movement of materials.
  • Conduct visual inspections of incoming and outgoing materials for quality control and contamination identification.
  • Actively participate in all mandatory training programs and safety briefings to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily production targets and maintain a positive work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a physical labour, factory, or production environment (beneficial but not essential).
  • A current Australian Driver's License.
  • Forklift license (LF class) or a willingness to undertake training to obtain one.
  • An understanding or interest in recycling principles and environmental sustainability.
