Job Description
The Russell Tavern is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Hand to join our dynamic kitchen team for evening shifts. This role is perfect for someone looking to gain experience in a bustling hospitality environment, enjoys working in a team, and is committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Assisting chefs with basic food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables.
- Washing dishes, pots, pans, and all kitchen utensils efficiently by hand or using commercial dishwashing machines.
- Maintaining impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, including work surfaces, floors, and equipment.
- Assisting with the proper storage and rotation of food supplies and inventory to minimise waste.
- Disposing of kitchen waste and recycling materials correctly and promptly.
- Ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned, sanitised, and stored in its designated place.
- Providing general support to the kitchen team during busy service periods to ensure smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to consistently work evening shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and comfortably lift moderate weights.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment is an advantage, but not strictly essential.
- Possession of a current Food Safety Certificate (or a willingness to obtain one promptly upon hire).
- A positive, 'can-do' attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for the hospitality industry.
