Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Workplace Safety Lead to join our dynamic team at our major industrial facility in Truganina, Victoria. This pivotal role is responsible for the overall management and continuous improvement of our Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) systems and culture. You will be instrumental in ensuring Linfox maintains its commitment to safety excellence, complies with all relevant WHS legislation, and proactively identifies and mitigates risks. This is a critical on-site position requiring a hands-on approach to leadership, training, and operational safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) management systems and procedures aligned with company policies and legal requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with WHS standards.
- Lead and facilitate thorough incident investigations, root cause analysis, and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide expert advice, guidance, and support to management, supervisors, and employees on all WHS-related matters.
- Design and deliver engaging WHS training programs, inductions, and toolbox talks to foster a strong safety-first culture across all levels of the organisation.
- Manage all WHS documentation, record-keeping, and reporting requirements, including preparation of WHS performance metrics and reports.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operational teams to integrate safety best practices into daily activities and new projects.
- Stay current with changes in WHS legislation, industry best practices, and technological advancements to ensure continuous improvement in safety performance.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety leadership role within a major industrial, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of Australian WHS legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Proven experience in conducting comprehensive incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to risk management.
- Proficiency in developing and delivering effective WHS training and awareness programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent nationally recognised qualification.
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) software platforms.
- Auditor qualification in WHS Management Systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
