Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Steward to join our culinary team for part-time evening shifts on an ongoing basis. As a Kitchen Steward, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in our kitchen facilities. This entry-level position is perfect for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a desire to contribute to a bustling hotel environment. You will be responsible for washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, and ensuring all areas meet health and safety regulations, supporting our chefs in delivering outstanding dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate dishwashing machines and hand wash all pots, pans, utensils, and crockery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, storage areas, and dishwashing station.
  • Assist with waste management, including sorting and disposing of rubbish and recycling.
  • Clean kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, and fryers as per cleaning schedules.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors regularly to ensure a safe and hygienic working environment.
  • Stock and replenish kitchen supplies, including plates, cutlery, and cleaning materials.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and procedures.
  • Support the culinary team with basic tasks as needed during busy periods.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 20kg) and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of kitchen sanitation principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel or restaurant setting is a plus.
  • Current Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Flexibility to work evening shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
