Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Hospital Cleaner to join our essential services team in Port Adelaide. This role is crucial for maintaining a sterile, safe, and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff within our healthcare facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning duties in accordance with strict health and safety protocols and infection control guidelines, ensuring a clean and welcoming atmosphere for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning tasks including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitising all surfaces in patient rooms, common areas, offices, and restrooms.
- Adhere strictly to hospital hygiene standards, infection control policies, and waste management procedures.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Manage and dispose of general waste, clinical waste, and sharps containers according to established guidelines.
- Replenish supplies in designated areas, such as soap, paper towels, and hand sanitiser.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors promptly.
- Work collaboratively with other hospital staff to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and support a positive patient experience.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and a thorough approach to cleaning tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- A good understanding of health and safety guidelines and the ability to work safely.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential for this critical role.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand instructions and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cleaning role, particularly within a healthcare or similar institutional setting (e.g., aged care, hotel).
- Knowledge of different cleaning chemicals and their safe application.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
