Job Description

We are seeking a enthusiastic and dedicated Horticulture Intern for a commercial nursery placement at our Murray Bridge facility. This internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all facets of a large-scale plant production nursery. You will work alongside experienced horticulturists, learning practical skills in plant propagation, cultivation, pest and disease management, irrigation, and nursery operations. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about plants and seeking a foundational career experience in the horticultural industry. The position is on-site, providing direct engagement with our nursery environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily plant care tasks, including watering, fertilizing, and pruning.
  • Participate in propagation activities, such as taking cuttings, seed sowing, and grafting.
  • Monitor plants for signs of pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies.
  • Learn and apply integrated pest management (IPM) techniques.
  • Support inventory management, plant movement, and dispatch processes.
  • Operate and maintain various nursery equipment under supervision.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized nursery environment.
  • Document observations and assist with data collection for plant health and growth.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for horticulture and plants.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Certificate or Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer or paid experience in a garden center or farm setting.
  • Valid driver's license.
