Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated APS5 Compliance Officer to join our team in Victor Harbor. In this vital role, you will contribute to the integrity of Australia’s tax and superannuation system by investigating and resolving compliance matters. You will apply legislative frameworks, conduct thorough assessments, and engage with stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations into suspected non-compliance with tax and superannuation laws, gathering evidence and preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Engage with taxpayers and their representatives to explain compliance requirements, negotiate resolutions, and provide accurate information.
  • Apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to complex compliance cases, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Identify and assess compliance risks, contributing to the development of strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to share information and achieve compliance objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with ATO standards and legislative requirements.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and make sound judgments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, concise, and professional reports and correspondence.

  • High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Law, Business, Accounting, Finance, Criminology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a regulatory, compliance, or investigative role, particularly within a government agency.
  • Familiarity with Australian tax and superannuation legislation.
