Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechatronics Technician to join our innovative team in Docklands, Melbourne. In this role, you will be instrumental in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex automated systems and robotic machinery. You will work with a diverse range of technologies, from industrial robots and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to advanced sensor systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, and control systems, eager to contribute to cutting-edge automation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of automated production equipment, including robots, conveyors, and assembly lines.
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on automated systems.
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Siemens S7, Rockwell Allen-Bradley) and HMI interfaces.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and develop maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement system upgrades and improvements.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and system modifications accurately.
- Provide technical support and training to junior technicians and production staff.
Required Skills
- Advanced diploma or degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience with industrial automation, including PLCs, HMIs, and servo drives.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with precision machinery.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for complex integrated systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., KUKA, ABB, Fanuc).
- Familiarity with vision systems and sensor integration.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
- Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., Electrician, Fitter) with automation focus.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
