Job Description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Lighting Specialist to join our Theatre & Media team in Maitland, FL. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, setup, operation, and maintenance of lighting systems for a diverse range of theatrical productions, corporate events, and media projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of lighting principles, equipment, and control systems, with a keen eye for detail and a collaborative spirit. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients, directors, and production teams to conceptualize and execute lighting designs that meet project requirements and artistic vision.
  • Responsible for the setup, focusing, and operation of a wide array of lighting fixtures, consoles, and associated equipment.
  • Conduct pre-production checks, system testing, and troubleshooting to ensure all lighting systems are fully functional and reliable.
  • Program lighting cues and sequences using various control software and hardware.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repair, and inventory management of lighting equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations during equipment setup, operation, and breakdown.
  • Provide on-site technical support during live events, ensuring seamless operation and swift resolution of any issues.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on lighting best practices and equipment usage.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in theatrical and event lighting design and operation.
  • Proficiency with modern lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, ETC EOS) and control software.
  • Strong knowledge of DMX, sACN, and Art-Net protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret lighting plots, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, often under pressure.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre, Lighting Design, or a related field.
  • Certifications in specific lighting console operation or industry-standard safety (e.g., OSHA).
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vectorworks) for lighting design.
  • Familiarity with media servers and video projection mapping technologies.
  • Prior experience working with live broadcast or streaming events.
