Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Instrumentation Electrician to join our dynamic team in the heavy industry sector. This role offers Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) opportunities, providing a fantastic work-life balance for those living outside the immediate area. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of electrical and instrumentation systems crucial to our heavy industrial operations. This is a critical role ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our plant and equipment, working within a world-class safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation systems including transmitters, control valves, analyzers, and various sensors.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on process control systems, PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&ID diagrams to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and instrumentation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, company policies, and relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61508).
  • Participate in fault-finding and root cause analysis to improve equipment reliability and operational uptime.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with mechanical, operational, and engineering personnel.
  • Complete accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and calibration records.
  • Adhere to environmental policies and contribute to the company's sustainability goals.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced team members where required.

Required Skills

  • Australian Recognised Electrical Trade Qualification (Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician).
  • Instrument Fitter/Technician Trade Qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Current A-Grade Electrical Licence (NT preferred or ability to obtain).
  • Minimum 3 years of post-trade experience in heavy industrial environments (mining, oil & gas, mineral processing).
  • Proficiency in the calibration, maintenance, and fault finding of process control instrumentation.
  • Experience with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Yokogawa).
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control loop diagrams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a challenging environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High Voltage Switching Certificate.
  • Explosive Atmospheres (EEHA) competency.
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Forklift or EWP Licence.
  • Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto).
  • Relevant post-trade qualifications in instrumentation or industrial automation.
