Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly organised, and experienced Legal Assistant to join our busy Conveyancing team in Warrnambool. This full-time, on-site role is critical to the efficient operation of our property law practice. The successful candidate will provide essential support to our solicitors, managing all aspects of conveyancing transactions from initial client contact through to settlement. Key Responsibilities
- Drafting and reviewing conveyancing documents, including contracts of sale, vendor statements, and transfer of land forms.
- Coordinating with clients, financial institutions, real estate agents, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth transaction progression.
- Managing critical deadlines and ensuring strict compliance with relevant Victorian conveyancing legislation and regulations.
- Preparing settlement adjustments and attending settlements (physical or electronic) via platforms such as PEXA.
- Maintaining and updating client files and case management systems with the highest level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Responding promptly and professionally to client enquiries, providing clear, timely updates on file progress.
- Assisting with general office administration and providing comprehensive support to the property law team as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Legal Assistant with a dedicated focus on conveyancing.
- Strong understanding of Victorian conveyancing procedures, land titles, and associated legal frameworks.
- Proficiency in legal practice management software (e.g., LEAP, Actionstep) and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and superior organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a professional, client-focused approach.
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload efficiently, independently, and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Legal Services (Conveyancing) or a related legal qualification.
- Demonstrated experience with the PEXA electronic conveyancing platform.
- A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and a strong desire for continuous learning and professional development.
