Job Description

Are you eager to launch your career in surveying and land measurement? Thiess is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Surveying Assistant to join our dynamic team in Whyalla. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with little to no prior experience who are keen to learn and develop valuable skills in the field. You will work alongside experienced surveyors, assisting with crucial data collection and field operations using state-of-the-art GPS and other surveying tools. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior surveyors with fieldwork, including setting up and operating surveying equipment such as GPS, total stations, and levels.
  • Perform basic data collection and measurements under direct supervision.
  • Maintain and clean surveying equipment, ensuring it is in good working order.
  • Help with site preparation, including clearing lines of sight and marking survey points.
  • Record field data accurately and legibly.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies on-site.
  • Learn and apply fundamental surveying principles and techniques.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other site personnel.
