Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Part-time Farm Hand to join our team on a day roster in Albany, Western Australia. This general farm hand position is crucial for the efficient operation of our agricultural activities. You will be involved in a variety of tasks across crop cultivation and livestock management, requiring a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic agricultural environment with a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of crop cultivation, including planting, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting.
- Perform general livestock care duties, such as feeding, watering, monitoring animal health, and assisting with handling.
- Operate and maintain a range of farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct general farm maintenance tasks, including fencing, repairs to infrastructure, and property upkeep.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with workplace health and safety guidelines and animal welfare standards.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, crop issues, or animal health concerns to the farm supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of farm buildings, yards, and equipment.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to punctuality.
- Basic understanding of agricultural principles or a keen willingness to learn.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on a farm or in a rural setting.
- Experience operating farm machinery (e.g., tractors, quad bikes) with a strong emphasis on safety.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor equipment maintenance.
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices.
- Current First Aid certification.
