Job Description
Are you a strong, reliable individual with a commitment to safety and a desire to work in a dynamic industrial environment? InfraBuild is seeking a dedicated Steel Yard Hand to join our team in Tuggeranong. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are not afraid of heavy lifting and want to earn top hourly rates with a leading company in Australia’s steel industry. As a Steel Yard Hand, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling, storage, and distribution of a variety of steel products. Your day will involve operating material handling equipment, organizing inventory, and ensuring our yard operations run smoothly. Safety is our top priority, and we are looking for someone who shares this commitment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload steel products from trucks and other transport vehicles.
- Operate forklifts and other heavy machinery to move and stack materials within the yard (training or certification may be provided/required).
- Organize and maintain a clean, tidy, and safe steel yard environment.
- Conduct visual inspections of incoming and outgoing materials for quality and quantity assurance.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant OHS regulations.
- Assist with inventory control, including counting and reporting stock levels.
- Perform general labour duties as required to support yard operations and maintain productivity.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet operational goals.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform heavy manual lifting on a regular basis (up to 25kg).
- Previous experience working in a warehouse, factory, or outdoor yard environment.
- A strong, unwavering commitment to workplace safety and following procedures.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
- Reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading instructions and counting stock.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current and valid Forklift License (LF class) is highly regarded.
- Prior experience handling steel products or similar heavy industrial materials.
- Basic First Aid certification.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
