Job Description
Join BHP as a Student Tech Intern with a focus on Cybersecurity & Risk in Port Hedland, Western Australia. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a critical area of information technology within a leading global resources company. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to the identification, assessment, and mitigation of cyber risks, helping to secure our operational technology and corporate systems. This role is ideal for students eager to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, industrial setting and develop foundational skills in cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the identification and documentation of cybersecurity risks across IT and operational technology (OT) environments.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of security controls and measures.
- Participate in risk assessments, vulnerability management activities, and incident response simulations.
- Help maintain and update security documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to awareness programs by preparing and disseminating cybersecurity best practices.
- Collaborate with various departments to understand their security needs and challenges.
- Research emerging cyber threats and technologies to inform risk mitigation strategies.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, network protocols, and operating systems.
