Job Description

Join Freeman’s dynamic team as a Casual Night Work Event Set-Up Crew member in Elizabeth, New Jersey. This role is perfect for individuals looking for flexible, part-time night work, involved in the exciting world of event logistics. You will be instrumental in the ‘bumping in’ (setup) and ‘bumping out’ (dismantle) of various events, including trade shows, conventions, and corporate functions. No prior experience is required; we provide comprehensive on-the-job training. This physically active role demands reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the loading and unloading of event equipment and materials from trucks and storage.
• Set up and dismantle event infrastructure, including staging, lighting, furniture, signage, and displays, according to event plans and supervisor instructions.
• Safely handle and transport various materials and equipment using appropriate tools (e.g., dollies, pallet jacks – training provided).
• Ensure all equipment is properly stored, organized, and accounted for after events.
• Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and venue-specific guidelines.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet event deadlines and operational goals.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment during setup and dismantle phases.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support event operations.

Required Skills

• Ability to perform physical labor, including frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
• Capable of standing and walking for extended periods, as well as bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to punctuality for assigned shifts.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Basic understanding of safety protocols (comprehensive training will be provided).
• Flexibility to work varied night shifts, often on short notice, based on event schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a warehouse, construction, moving, or event setup environment is highly advantageous.
• Forklift certification or experience operating other heavy equipment (e.g., scissor lifts, boom lifts).
• Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret basic event floor plans or setup diagrams.
