Job Description
Join our dedicated team at Blacktown Hospital Aged Care Services as an Aged Care Support Worker. You will play a vital role in providing direct care and support to our elderly residents, assisting them with daily living activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their comfort and safety. This facility-based role requires compassion, patience, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of care within a public health setting. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to create a positive and nurturing environment for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care, including showering, dressing, and grooming.
- Support residents with mobility, transfers, and exercise programs as directed.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' health or well-being to senior staff.
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and WHS guidelines.
- Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
Required Skills
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community Care) or equivalent.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Demonstrated ability to provide person-centred care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check (NPC) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an aged care facility or similar healthcare setting.
- Experience with dementia care or palliative care.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping.
