Job Description
Join the Australia Post team in Cairns as a Postie Assistant! This casual, outdoor role is perfect for individuals who enjoy being active, working independently, and connecting with their local community. You will be responsible for assisting our Posties with the efficient delivery of mail and parcels to homes and businesses, primarily using a bicycle or walking route. This is a day work position with early starts, offering a fantastic opportunity to stay fit while contributing to an essential service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Posties with the sorting and preparation of mail and parcels for delivery.
- Deliver mail and small parcels to designated addresses on assigned routes.
- Operate a bicycle safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic regulations.
- Navigate routes accurately, ensuring timely and correct delivery.
- Provide friendly and professional service to customers as required.
- Maintain a high standard of safety for yourself and the public.
- Report any delivery issues or concerns promptly to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and understand maps and delivery instructions.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to perform prolonged periods of walking, cycling, and lifting (up to 16kg).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Australian driver's license (desirable, but not essential for all roles).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery or customer service role.
- Familiarity with the Cairns local area.
- Current First Aid certification.
