Job Description
Join RPS Group as a Building Surveyor Intern, focusing on legislative compliance within our dynamic property and infrastructure team. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior building surveyors in conducting site inspections to assess compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards.
- Research and interpret building legislation, regulations, and codes to provide accurate advice.
- Prepare preliminary reports and documentation related to building code assessments and compliance checks.
- Support the team in reviewing architectural plans and specifications for regulatory adherence.
- Shadow experienced surveyors during client meetings and official consultations.
- Maintain accurate records and databases of compliance documentation.
- Contribute to the development of internal compliance guidelines and best practices.
- Learn about various aspects of building design, construction, and post-occupancy compliance.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer or project experience in a construction or property-related field.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
