Job Description
Are you a proactive and inquisitive student passionate about shaping public policy and making a tangible difference in the community? Deloitte Australia is seeking a Student Policy Intern to join our Public Sector Consulting team in Rockhampton. This is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic student to gain hands-on experience in public policy analysis, research, and development. You will work alongside experienced consultants, contributing to projects that impact government strategy, service delivery, and societal outcomes across Queensland and potentially nationally. This internship is designed to provide you with practical exposure to the consulting world, develop your analytical and communication skills, and build a strong foundation for a future career in public policy or consulting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on public policy issues, legislative frameworks, and government initiatives.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and policy briefs for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support project teams in data collection, synthesis, and interpretation to inform policy recommendations.
- Participate in client meetings, workshops, and brainstorming sessions.
- Contribute to the development of strategic advice for government agencies and public sector organizations.
- Monitor policy developments and provide timely updates on relevant trends and changes.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Law, Business, or a related field.
- Strong academic record and demonstrable interest in public sector issues and policy formulation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in research and analytical methodologies.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and present findings clearly and concisely.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a research-intensive role, whether academic or professional.
- Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative data analysis tools.
- Understanding of the Australian political landscape and government structures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
