Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Council Labourer to join our Parks team in Redcliffe. This full-time position offers steady work from Monday to Friday, contributing to the upkeep and beautification of Moreton Bay’s cherished public spaces. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, whipper snipping, pruning, and weeding.
  • Operate various hand tools and small plant equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with landscaping projects, including planting, mulching, and irrigation maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of parks, playgrounds, and public amenity areas.
  • Conduct routine checks and minor repairs on park infrastructure.
  • Adhere to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
  • Report maintenance issues and hazards to supervisors promptly.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and council staff.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor labouring role.
  • Ability to operate various grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, whipper snippers, blowers).
  • Strong understanding and commitment to WHS practices.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License (manual preferred).
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current White Card (Construction Induction).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience with basic landscaping and irrigation systems.
  • Formal qualification in horticulture, parks and gardens, or a related field.
