Job Description
Join the dynamic team at Swissport as a Casual Baggage Porter in the fast-paced airport environment. This role is crucial to ensuring a smooth and positive travel experience for passengers by efficiently managing baggage handling operations. You will be responsible for the safe and timely movement of luggage, contributing to the overall operational efficiency of the airport. This position requires physical fitness, a strong commitment to safety, and excellent teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload baggage from aircraft, baggage carts, and conveyor belts.
- Operate baggage handling equipment, including tugs and conveyor systems (with training).
- Sort and transport luggage to correct destinations within the airport.
- Adhere strictly to all safety and security procedures and regulations.
- Assist passengers with baggage-related inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Perform other duties as required to support airport operations during casual shifts.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to 32kg) frequently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to casual day shifts.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and security protocols.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or customer service.
- Experience working in an airport or logistics environment.
- Current driver's license (manual preferred).
- Current Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) or ability to obtain one.
