Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Watchmaking Lead to join our luxury service centre team in Port Macquarie. This pivotal role involves overseeing the technical operations of our workshop, mentoring a team of talented watchmakers, and upholding the highest standards of quality in the repair and servicing of complex luxury watches. The successful candidate will combine advanced technical proficiency with strong leadership capabilities, ensuring an efficient workflow and exceptional customer satisfaction. You will be instrumental in maintaining the pristine reputation of our esteemed brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of watchmakers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the diagnosis, repair, and servicing of a wide range of luxury mechanical and quartz timepieces.
- Ensure all repairs adhere to strict brand specifications, quality standards, and turnaround times.
- Manage workshop workflow, scheduling, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and productivity.
- Conduct quality control checks on completed work to ensure flawless performance and aesthetic finish.
- Provide advanced technical support and training to junior watchmakers.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
- Manage inventory of parts and tools, ensuring proper stock levels.
- Collaborate with customer service to address client queries and provide technical explanations.
- Stay abreast of the latest horological technologies and brand-specific training requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional watchmaker, ideally with luxury brands.
- Proven leadership and team management experience in a workshop setting.
- Exceptional diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, automatic, and quartz movements.
- Proficiency with modern watchmaking tools and equipment.
- Strong understanding of luxury watch brands' service standards and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision craftsmanship.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- WOSTEP, SAWTA, or equivalent internationally recognized watchmaking certification.
- Previous experience working specifically with Richemont Group brands (e.g., Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles in a service environment.
- Advanced certification in specific complications (e.g., tourbillon, perpetual calendar).
