Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Urban Designer to join our dynamic team in Albury. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate passionate about shaping urban environments and contributing to meaningful projects. You will work closely with senior urban designers and architects on a diverse range of projects, from large-scale master plans to public realm design, gaining invaluable experience in all stages of the design process. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior urban designers in research, analysis, and data collection for various projects.
  • Prepare design diagrams, plans, sections, and 3D visualizations using CAD, GIS, and graphic software.
  • Contribute to concept development and design charrettes.
  • Conduct site visits and assist with site analysis and documentation.
  • Prepare presentation materials, reports, and proposals.
  • Maintain project documentation and adhere to project deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Strong understanding of urban design principles and planning processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both visual and verbal.
  • Ability to conduct thorough research and synthesize information.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality output.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach to tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or work experience in an urban design or architecture firm.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino).
  • Ability to hand sketch and develop design concepts quickly.
