Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically fit Turf Farm Hand to join our dedicated team at our Shepparton farm. This is an active role offering ongoing shifts for individuals eager to work outdoors and contribute to the growth and maintenance of high-quality turf. You will be involved in all aspects of turf production, from cultivation to harvesting and preparation for dispatch. Ideal candidates will be reliable, possess a strong work ethic, and be capable of performing a variety of manual tasks in a fast-paced agricultural environment. Full training will be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment (tractors, mowers, harvesters, etc.)
- Prepare soil for planting, including tilling and fertilising
- Planting, watering, and monitoring turf growth
- Weeding, pest control, and general turf health management
- Assist with the harvesting and loading of turf rolls
- Perform general farm maintenance and tidiness tasks
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies
- Work collaboratively with the farm management team to achieve production targets
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour for extended periods
- Reliability and strong punctuality
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Excellent attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and techniques
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices or a strong interest in farming
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a farm hand, horticulture, or landscaping role
- Experience operating farm machinery (e.g., tractors, forklifts)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transport
- Chemical user certificate or willingness to obtain one
