Job Description

Are you eager to kickstart a career in the construction industry? GJ Gardner Homes Mackay is seeking a motivated and reliable Tiler’s Offsider to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is perfect for someone looking to learn the ropes of waterproofing and tiling from experienced professionals. You’ll gain hands-on experience, develop valuable trade skills, and contribute to the creation of beautiful homes across the Mackay region. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified tilers with all aspects of tiling and waterproofing tasks.
  • Prepare surfaces for tiling, including cleaning, grinding, and leveling.
  • Mix and prepare various materials such as glues, grouts, and waterproofing compounds.
  • Cut tiles to size and shape using appropriate tools and techniques under supervision.
  • Transport materials and tools to and from the work area.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including waste removal and site tidiness.
  • Learn and apply best practices for waterproofing and tiling techniques.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Perform other general labouring duties as required.

Required Skills

  • Eagerness and willingness to learn a trade.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to lift heavy materials.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Construction Induction White Card.
  • Current Australian driver's license and reliable transport.
  • Previous experience in a construction or manual labour role (advantageous but not essential).
  • Basic hand tools.
