Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and passionate Sustainability Coordinator to join our dedicated team, focusing on Council Green Initiatives. This pivotal role involves the development, implementation, and monitoring of sustainability projects within the City of Perth. You will be instrumental in driving our green agenda, working on diverse projects ranging from waste reduction and energy efficiency to urban biodiversity and community engagement. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage various environmental sustainability projects and programs, ensuring alignment with the City's strategic goals.
- Conduct research, data collection, and analysis to inform sustainability initiatives and report on key performance indicators.
- Engage with internal departments, external stakeholders, community groups, and contractors to facilitate project delivery.
- Develop and deliver educational materials and awareness campaigns to promote sustainable practices amongst staff and the community.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of green initiatives, preparing reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Assist in securing grants and funding opportunities for sustainability projects.
- Stay abreast of emerging sustainability trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Prepare comprehensive project plans, budgets, and timelines.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental project coordination or sustainability management, preferably within a local government or public sector setting.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from conception to completion.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability principles, and urban green initiatives.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
- Experience with grant writing and funding applications.
- Knowledge of local government operations and decision-making processes.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
- Certification in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
